Adding a Trade Name to Your Corporation
A trade name, also called a DBA (doing business as) or operating name, lets your corporation do business under a name other than its legal name. For example, 123456 N.B. Ltd. could operate as “Moncton Cleaning Services”.
Why Register a Trade Name?
- Use a brand name that is easy for customers to remember
- Open a bank account and accept payments in the trade name
- Run more than one brand under the same corporation
- Stay compliant, since operating under an unregistered name is not permitted
What You Need
- Your corporation’s legal name and number
- The trade name you want to register
- A NUANS report for the name, if required (we can order it for you)
